My friend shared some pictures with us, but not in time for the last post, so here is an update.

A lot to say

October was a busy month; probably deserving of 4-5 different posts, but we will have to make do with a little condensing. There were trips to the farm, a piano recital, a small road trip, new shoes, and of course Halloween. The kids are growing so fast, but I am not a mom that is mourning the loss of the wee stage. I love watching them grow and become more independent. Caris growing up is exciting, not sad. She can wave and say bye-bye. I want to say that it is her first word, but it is really just a sound. She is on the move, creeping on furniture and one of her favorite things is to hold hands and "walk" around. She likes to do this so much, I had to buy her shoes so that she could "walk" at the park. I predict a full blown walker before her first birthday. Her 9 month check up went well. As is typical, the doctor is impressed by her size: 50% for weight and 90% for height.

Liam is also doing his fair share of growing. He had his first piano recital and played a version of the batman theme song and "Mary Had a Little Ghost" for the Halloween themed performance. As he was the youngest player there, I was surprised that he showed no nerves or angst. Proud Momma. He also had a road trip to visit 2nd cousins in Connecticut and New Jersey. This trip left a big impression on him. He thinks Will is the nicest kid ever because "he said sorry right when he accidentally hit" Liam. "He didn't wait at all." He also loves that the combination of the two names, Will and Liam, make a real name. When hurricane Sandy came through, he was concerned for his cousins after he learned the path of the storm.

And, I would be amiss if I didn't mention the recent election. I didn't get a good picture, but Caris was with me when I voted for Obama, similar to how Liam was with me 4 years ago. Surprisingly, Liam was super excited about the election and about Obama. He loves to pretend to vote and I picked him up on Tuesday with questions of who I voted for. He mentions Obama so frequently, I wonder if Aunt Ri-Ri and Bo-Bo have been practicing their canvasing skills on him. He watched as much of the results as he could on Tuesday night and it was one of his first questions on Wednesday morning. He wants Obama to be able to be in office for 4 terms. He said that when he becomes King (his goal since learning the story of the Lion King), he will let me be president for 4 terms.

She loves the dog and even has a word for him--kind of like diddy, but not quite that advanced.

After school fun!

Another goal of Liam's, besides being King, a doctor and a dad, is to be a super hero. He is learning that firefighters are also heroes, and liked picking up another hero costume at a farm day.

Halloween always brings plenty of candy from generous neighbors, but he ended up donating it because of a recent trip to the dentist revealed 3 cavities.
